Vicente’s wife discovers a small but impressive drawing on the kitchen table and persuades him to follow his talent after retiring from thirty years as a stockbroker. This led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño of Puerto Rico, followed by a master’s degree at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico in painting and drawing. After this, he has been actively working in the art world as an artist and teacher. In his artworks, you may find Impressionism influences (the ambient, intense brush strokes, and colors) that he adopt to create his own identity through what his eyes perceive instead of what it may seems evident.  One of his paintings’ most important value is the huge contradictions of reality when representing a situation or specific object. “I use contradictions to interact with my work; if something’s black, I’ll paint it purple.” Contradictions surround us, and Vicente takes advantage of them to feed his paintings.
