“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”- Leonardo Da Vinci

Kevin Mejías admires and feels influenced by Da Vinci’s knowledge, accomplishments in multiple disciplines, and the relevance of his legacy. At first sight, simplicity seems to dominate every piece of Kevin’s artworks through ink or watercolors. However, a closer look will reveal its sophistication. Without exception, each brush-stroke and every little dot go beyond Da Vinci’s paintings and signal the impressionists’ influence. His artworks transcend from Edgar Degas ballet dancers to outdoor compositions at different times of the day. Kevin’s watercolors show a set of bright colors that relate to impressionism and its purpose to highlight the colors in nature.
